The Photographs
In the initial chapters, black and white photographs appear within the text to complement the narrative. The colour photographs, images, operational maps, certificates of awards and other selected materials are brought together in the Pictorial Chronicle at the end of the book. Arranged in the order of their appearance in the book, each item is provided with a caption that enables readers to do a quick visual reading of the biography. This section also serves as a visual index, with page references that connect each photograph to the story in the text.
